Rossi Tests the Ducati Desmosedici GP12 at Mugello

Under normal circumstances, Valentino Rossi testing the Ducati Desmosedici GP12 at the Mugello circuit would be a big deal on the interwebs. But today with the combination of a “been there, done that” effect that setting in around the GP12, and the news that the new 2012 Ducati “Superquadrata” Superbike is also being tested at the fabled Italian track, Rossi’s latest outing on the 1,000cc class bike is taking a backseat. That’s not say we ...

Intel's Hybrid Cloud for SmallBiz

For many smaller businesses, outsourcing IT to "the cloud" is tempting (read: cheap and easy), but scary (at the mercy of someone else having an outage or getting hacked leaving the company exposed). Intel is hoping to ease anxiety with a new offering it describes as a "hybrid cloud" solution, specifically targeting nervous small business owners.

See what you think.

In a nutshell, the pay-as-you-go service puts a Lenovo server on site (running on an Intel chip, of course) that is managed and secured remotely by the Intel "cloud" via a managed service provider. Clients would choose the applications they want to run on that server from the Intel AppUp catalog. Everything is pay-as-you-go (although pricing has not yet been made public) on a monthly basis. Even the server installed on-site is a monthly rental, with no big up front investment. This also makes it highly scalable. Businesses would have the piece of mind knowing their data is still on-site on the local server, while at the same time no longer have the headache of providing on-site IT support to keep it running, install patches, etc.

Intel is offering its hybrid cloud service in only the United States and India for starters. More countries to follow soon.

Barcelona v Manchester United ? Champions League final live | Scott Murray

? Hit F5 or use the autorefresh tool for the latest updates

Dimitar Berbatov doesn't even make the Manchester United bench: Van der Sar, Fabio, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Park, Rooney, Hernandez.
Subs: Kuszczak, Owen, Anderson, Smalling, Nani, Scholes, Fletcher.

Barcelona club captain Carles Puyol doesn't start, with Javier Mascherano taking his place in central defence: Valdes, Alves, Mascherano, Pique, Abidal, Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta, Pedro, Messi, Villa.
Subs: to come

On the other hand: United are possibly facing The Best Club Side In The History Of All Football, Ever.

Here's another plus point for United: The pressure really is on Barca to deliver tonight, and not just because everybody expects them to win. Consider this: if they lose this match, their claim to be The Best Club Side In The History Of All Football, Ever will be up in smoke. For good. They'll have let Manchester United win twice as many European Cups during their imperial phase - the 2006 win was by a different team - and that's no way to be building a legacy. Passing it around nicely is all good and well, but the greatest sides repeatedly put the silver in the cabinet. Look at Arsenal.

Anyway, the game. Although the Spanish champions and purveyors of the finest tiki-taka are the firm favourites, nobody in their right mind would write off an Alex Ferguson side. Or a Manchester United one, for that matter. So expect this to be close. Closer even than the 2009 final in Rome between these two sides, which nobody thought was particularly close at all until this week, when nearly 1,000 articles explaining that it was actually a bit closer than you remember have been published. Hmm. But why should it be close? Here's why: David Pleat's plan to beat Barca.

Further further reading while you wait: OK, OK, it's not about football, but the subject did support Manchester United.

Further reading while you wait: There's plenty of comment on this site ahead of the game, but if you're desirous of a modern Manchester United classic, I'll point you no further than the excellent On The Road by Daniel Harris. A fine read, and you don't need to take my word for it, it's already had the thumbs up from our very own Rob Smyth and Daniel Taylor.

Kick off: 7.45pm in the British summer money.

One last minor historical point: This is the first European Cup final to be held at Wembley featuring either Barcelona or Manchester United not to have a player called Eusebio in one of the starting line-ups. That's not very interesting, is it? I can only apologise, it's all I've got.

Sadly, the old dump we knew and loved is no more, replaced by this soulless pile. Never mind, we'll all have to make the best of it. It's about time someone sprinkled some stardust on this new stadium - nothing particularly memorable has happened here yet, save Croatia popping over to riff on Steve McClaren's pain that time - and with both Barcelona and Manchester United having 100 percent European Cup form here, perhaps tonight's the night.

The old Empire Stadium was good to both of these grand clubs. In 1968, United won their first European Cup there against Benfica, a beatific light shining down on Matt Busby, Bobby Charlton and Bill Foulkes as they paraded Busby's holy grail around the other-worldly, wide-open spaces of Wembley, ten years after the horrors of Munich. Twenty four years later, Johan Cruyff's Dream Team bested Sampdoria in the same atmospheric arena, finally landing Barcelona their first European Cup after decades of living in Real Madrid's shadow.

Telus recruits Leonard Nimoy to vet your Facebook status updates

What Would Leonard Nimoy Say
Have you ever thought your Facebook status updates lacked finesse? Ever regretted saying that to the whole of Facebook about 30 seconds after hitting send? Ever wished you had your own personal Leonard Nimoy to proof read your mind-dumps before you make a fool of yourself? Yes, me too, and now you can!

Brought to you by Telus, What Would Leonard Nimoy Say (WWLNS) is a Facebook app, which allows you to run your status updates past the legendary sci-fi actor before slapping them up on Facebook. Skype 5.3 for Windows released, improves mobile video call quality

Version 5.3 of Skype for Windows has just been released, with the main emphasis of the new release being improved call quality, and the quality of video received by mobile Skype users. Presumably one party of the video call must be using Skype for Windows 5.3, though.

Beyond improved call quality, not much has changed. You can now see your friends' presence icons when contact cards are collapsed, and the topic editing button is now always visible on the conversation header. For a complete list of changes, hit up the Skype Garage blog.

Rumor: Honda Working on a 1,000cc V4 Sportbike

Fanned by a recent article in Motorcyclist (and an earlier article in MCN from the same author), rumors abound that Honda is working on a 1,000cc V4 sportbike, likely to be called theRVF1000R. A supplement to Honda’s superbike offering, and not a replacement to the CBR line, the new RVF would be a more premium superbike offering, differentiating itself from its inline-four cousin in a similar manner as the Rc-45 and RC-51 motorcycles did in ...
