The Root: An Apology Comes Late, But With Feeling

In 1944 Recy Taylor was abducted and assaulted by seven men in her rural Alabama town. It was part of a pattern of sexual violence toward black women at the time. This March the town passed a resolution formally apologizing to Taylor. Cynthia Gordy of The Root argues, it's about time.
