What items can't you live without on the road? Inc. asked readers what technology and comforts they can't live without when crossing the country for business travel.
The iPad features a 9.7-inch screen, fingerprint-resistant coating, and a battery life of up to 10 hours while surfing the Web or watching movies. It comes available with a 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB flash drive, as well as 3G connectivity for a monthly fee. COST: Starts at $499.
Dropbox is an online backup, storage, and file-syncing service. It works great in transferring and storing large files that often exceed e-mail capacity. "I love Dropbox, it makes everything accessible," @condo29 tweeted. COST: Free, but priced up to $19.99 per month based on how much storage you need.
"If I need access to my office computer, I use either Sugar Sync or Mozy to browse my office hard drive so I can download the files to my phone," David of Tampa, posted on Ask Inc. COST: Sugar Sync is free up to 5GB; Mozy starts at $5.99 a month.
"I don't take a blanket, as most airlines provide one if you ask, but I do take an inflatable pillow that actually has quite a smooth surface and can be blown up more or less to fit the chair or place where I want to close my eyes for a moment," says Atje Cobbett. The notebook of choice for millions of users, the MacBook features a 13.3-inch glossy widescreen, a 10-hour battery life, a glass multi-touch trackpad, and a built-in webcam. The Macbook weighs less than five pounds and sports a 250GB hard disk drive and a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. "My MacBook Pro ... because I prefer having more screen real estate on longer flights," David responded on Ask Inc. COST: Starting at $999.
The debate continues over which phone is tops. Inc. readers could not decide between the Apple iPhone, the Droid Incredible, and the Blackberry Bold. But they did all agree that staying connected to family, friends, co-workers, and clients is important.
